At Wiveliscombe Primary School, we aim to develop confident and enthusiastic readers and writers. Children experience a rich range of texts, genres and themes, giving them opportunities to explore how language is used for different purposes and audiences. Our consistent approach to English supports children in developing their skills through reading comprehension, grammar, identifying features and planning, before applying their learning through writing and editing. As children progress through school, they build on their knowledge and skills and develop increasing independence in crafting and improving their own writing.
