School Crossing Patrol

Grade 16.2 full time equivalent of £22,360 or £11.59 per hour.

Morning hours 8 - 9 am. 

Afternoon hours 2.45pm - 3.45pm

Salary Range: MPS

Hours/Contract: 3 days a week Fixed term until 31.10.2025 in the first instance

Wiveliscombe Primary School, near Taunton, is seeking to appoint a part time teacher to join our wonderful school. We are looking to continue the excellent Forest School/outdoor provision we offer to all pupils’ across the school. The successful applicant will teach outdoor sessions to each class each week. We have a wonderful site which is equipped for excellent outdoor learning opportunities. This role will encompass a PE and enrichment responsibility. This is a really unique and exciting post!

Job Description: Cook

Location: The Paddocks Nursery and Pre-School, Wiveliscombe

Position: Cook

Reports to: Nursery Manager

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Cook to join our team at The Paddocks. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children aged 0-5 years, ensuring all dietary requirements are met and maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety in the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare a variety of healthy meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and individual dietary needs.
  • Ensure all meals are prepared in a timely manner and served at appropriate temperatures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Order and manage kitchen supplies, ensuring stock levels are maintained.
  • Collaborate with nursery staff to create menus that are both nutritious and appealing to young children.
  • Monitor and record food temperatures and storage conditions.
  • Handle food allergies and special dietary requirements with care and attention.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, 10am until 2pm

Salary:

£22.737 FTE, £11.78 per hour

Person Specification: Cook

Qualifications:

  • Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2 or higher in Food Preparation and Cooking or equivalent).
  • Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).

Experience:

  • Previous experience working as a cook, preferably in a nursery, school, or similar setting.
  • Experience in planning and preparing meals for young children.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of nutrition and dietary requirements for young children.
  • Excellent cooking skills with the ability to prepare a variety of meals.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Previous experience working as a cook, preferably in a nursery, school, or similar setting.
  • Experience in planning and preparing meals for young children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail, especially regarding food allergies and special dietary needs.

Personal Attributes:

  • Passionate about providing healthy and nutritious meals for children.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Friendly and approachable, with a positive attitude.

We are a rural nursery at the heart of the community. The Paddocks is part of Wiveliscombe Primary School, although we are situated a walk away from the school in our own building.
